Thank you for your sacrificial giving that enabled us to send 250 children to school this year. The average cost we spent per child was $55. Here is what each child will receive for the $55 you gave: each child will receive a meal 5 days a week from the school (another NGO is providing the food), one year's tuition to Mount Sinai Baptist School, one uniform, and health insurance to cover all sicknesses during the school year (we are still working out the details on the insurance. Please keep it in your prayers).
In addition to providing school sponsorships, you bought new desks for the school and completed needed renovations to the school. I will update you more about this in a later post.
I want to give you a taste of Liberia's hunger month through a random sample of letters we received and through pictures.

This is what our front gate looked like at nearly any point of the day. We were able to send 250 students to school but there were many hundreds of students that we were not able to assist. |

Melanie sat on our porch and registered children. |

I visited each family's home to complete their registration. Each child is listed in our GPS. The school will provide us with attendance records and grade sheets each month. If students are not attending schools or if they are performing poorly, we will visit their homes to try to diagnose the problem. While visiting homes, many others asked for assistance. We had to say no to nearly all of them.

Each morning, I read through new piles of letters requesting assistance. I took these letters and consulted with local pastors to find the greatest needs. On this particular morning the pile on the left was for the 80 children we had already enrolled in school, the next pile to the right was for 101 students who were approved for scholarships, the next pile to the right was for 117 children we said, "no" to, and the last pile was for 105 students who were still in consideration.
Here are random letters and pictures of students you sent to school.
Thank you! |
