Mission Update 5-3-18

His Safe Haven's Group Homes:

Construction has started on His Safe Haven’s first group home!

Last Friday, our foster moms gathered for a ground breaking ceremony.

I believe special need’s orphans, in Liberia, are among the most destitute and despised people in the world.  Liberians call these children demons and devils.  They believe these children’s disabilities were caused by the child’s participation in the dark demonic world.  Special needs children are viewed as a curse on a family while families with special needs children are viewed as a curse on a community.  Many of these children are “destroyed” through starvation and exposure.

We believe these children are immeasurably valuable and worthy of any and all sacrifice.  We pray God will enable us to rescue many more children while placing them in loving Christian families.  Each family will raise 3-6 special need’s children, depending upon the severity of the children’s needs.  We plan to build a house for each of these families in our village.

Thank you for making this project possible.  I am praying the Lord will enable us to build one group home per month for the next seven months.  This would enable us to move all our special need’s children onto our new land.  God has blessed us with all the money we need to build our first two group homes and training center.

Church Construction Project:

Last week, we started painting our church house.

Steel rods were added to the windows for security.

The interior walls have been primed.

Our church is on the left and our elementary school is on the right.

Every child in our school is sponsored by you.  Thank you!

One hundred twenty-four of our one hundred sixty-eight sponsored children attend our elementary school.

Thank you for giving hope and the possibility of a better future to so many children.

Random Pictures:

Abraham lost another tooth!

Once a month, we travel to Monrovia to buy groceries.  We leave early in the morning and return late at night.

We always try to eat out somewhere special.

These totes contain soup that will be poured over rice for each foster family at His Safe Haven’s group homes.  Our kitchen staff does a great job at providing nutritious meals for our children.

This week got bitterly cold!!!  We all bundled up in our sweat shirts as the temperature hit 70 degrees.  Brrrrrr!

Annie and Abigail found some pretty flowers at the worksite.

Prayer Requests:
1.  Please pray for the Bible Institute as preparations are being made to train pastors this month.
2.  Please pray for our adoption.  Please pray the process will continue to move forward smoothly and quickly.
3.  Please pray for the construction of His Safe Haven’s group homes.  Please pray for wisdom as we build this village and for the safety of our workers.
4.  Please pray for my wife as she home schools our children.
5.  Next Tuesday, we will be leading another mobile medical clinic.  Please pray for our patience and for our physician assistants.  Please pray that many sick people will be made well, that our church plants will grow as a result of hosting these clinics, and that many will give their lives to Jesus.

Thank you for your partnership in the Gospel!
